At Oportfolio, we are all big supporters of charity, and we try to help in any way we can with good causes in the local area and the country as a whole. This year we are starting an initiative to support a different charity every quarter to try and raise as much funds as possible as a company. Over the past few weeks, we have worked together as a team to choose several charities close to our heart that we will raise money for. We are pleased to announce that the charity we are supporting this quarter is Macmillan Cancer Support.
Our First Fundraising Event
To kick things off, one of our senior mortgage and protection advisors Jade Pinkerton will be completing a run along the Thames as part of the ASICS 10K. The run, which takes place on the 10th of July this year, allows runners of all abilities to take part in a really special and scenic event. Seeing all the popular sights of central London whilst getting active and raising money for good causes at the same time.
This charity is an important one to Jade and her family as she, like many other people across the world, have experienced the trauma of loved ones suffering from cancer and the amazing work that Macmillan does to support people with cancer and their families is truly inspiring.
The Route
Clad in Macmillan branded running gear, Jade will start her run in Green Park at 10am. From there she will head towards regent street and on to Piccadilly Circus. She will then loop round St. James’s Palace and power on through Trafalgar Square before making one last triumphant push round Temple Station and down the north bank of the Thames. Jade will then finish her mammoth run by crossing Westminster bridge and hitting the finish line just past Downing Street.
