Did you know that Britons are more likely to insure their pet than invest in critical illness insurance to cover their own worst-case scenarios?
That’s according to research carried out by Mintel in August 2017. In its survey of 1,152 UK adults, they discovered that only 8% of respondents were likely to get critical illness insurance for themselves. At the same time though, 49% said they were likely to insure their pet.
Britain is well-known as a nation of animal lovers, but Mintel’s statistics suggest that people are willing to look after their pets more than they are willing to look after themselves, which could be a dangerous path to tread.
The Office for National Statistics reported in 2017 that approximately 137.3 million working days in the UK were lost over 2016 to sickness or injury, equivalent to an average of 4.3 days per worker. Investing in an affordable, bespoke insurance policy can be a wise move to consider, in order to protect yourself and your loved ones.
Don’t side-line critical illness insurance
So many people seem to be missing out on critical illness insurance that will cover them during times of serious trouble. It doesn’t have to be that way; finding a bespoke policy to cover your health may be easier and more affordable than you think, especially if you work with a specialist provider who will help you find a package most suitable for your individual needs.
